Another activity I include in the 16 week off season training program as it provides useful work on agility, endurance, speed and leg strength. Sprint to each marker, then backpeddle as fast as you can to each back marker. Jog back to recover at the end of each rep. Repeat the activity in sets of 5 reps with 3 sets per session and a 1 minute rest between sets as a start. It is extremely important that you get low and lean forward at the beginning of each sprint so you can accelerate efficiently. Over time increase the number of reps per sets and/or the number of sets per session, but maintain the rest periods between sets. Remember any agility work needs to be done at 100% or it is of little use! So you can increase the workload as long as you are not making bad shapes or you are struggling to move at pace. After this point, the activity is just about strength and endurance.
